ABC: Buttery Pull-Apart Dinner Rolls

This month the Avid Bakers are baking up some hot buttery rolls.  There were 3 options as far as flavoring went...poppy seeds, herb, and pepper cheese.  I chose the herb.  I mixed the dough in my Kitchen Aid instead of doing it by hand.  The dough was very sticky and I really didn't get much of a rise out of them the first or second time.  But they were tasty all the same.  I should have only made half of the recipe because 16 rolls are far too many for 3 people.  I guess I will try and freeze the left overs.

I gave it my best shot...better luck next time! :)

Go here to see what they really should look like.

If you would like the recipe you can find it here.

As Always,
Enjoy!

  1. Hi Chelly,
I was thinking of making either the herb or poppy seed version and choose the later as I have lots of poppy seed in my pantry. Your rolls have lovely golden colour. The only changes I did was, I use whole milk instead of half-and-half, and I use bread flour (oops, I've forgotten to add this in my post, will include it in my post after this!). I gave four rolls to my neighbour for her tea-time snack and we finished the rest by the next morning. Looking forward to next month's bake!

  2. Hi Chelly - they look beautiful all lined up in the pan and the inside shot looks great too - you can't tell at all that they didn't rise well. Yum...can't wait to make mine :)

  3. Lovely buns you have. Are you using all-purpose flour as stated in recipe?

  5. Love the herby variation. They freeze very well, so that's no problem. They look perfect, they look risen too. Maybe you expected more, but I'd say these are just the way they should have been!

  7. They look very nice. And not at all under-proofed.

  8. Good to see your herb version! Why are you disappointed? They look yummy to me! Luckily they freeze well so maybe you can enjoy them later... maybe make panini's out of them? Well done!
